GM Northstar V8 (1993-2011)
The Cadillac Northstar engine was a dual overhead cam, all aluminum 90 degree V8 made both in transverse and longitudinal configurations. It was introduced for the 1993 model year in the Cadillac Allante and was used in many GM applications. Displacements ranged from 4.0L in the 1995-2003 Oldsmobile Aurora, 4.6L in most other vehicles, and 4.4L in the Supercharged XLR-V and STS-V. The engine was produced at the Livonia Powertain plant in Livonia, Michigan for its entire production run. It was called the "PV8" or "Premium V8".
